Sweet Pea Mackenzie Lee

We have Mackenzie Lee over to play a couple days a week. She is just under 3 months old and very smiley. She loves watching Sawyer run and jump all around, and she especially loves when he talks to her. Sawyer is very sweet to her also. He is always bringing her the toys that he just took from Spencer :) We'll have to work on that one.

A day at Downtown Disney

We went to Downtown Disney last week to look for a Buzz Lightyear for Sawyer's birthday. We didn't find a toy Buzz, but he got to pose with the giant Buzz outside one of the stores. He thought it was pretty cool. He also wanted a picture with Donald and Daisy two of his favoriters from Mickey Mouse Club House.
_

We spent all day walking around, and by the time we got home both boys were out cold. We only live 10 minutes from Disney, so they tuckered out pretty quick.

Sleeping at 6

Now that Spencer spends all his awake time crawling he tends to fall
asleep in different places. Here he is in the middle of dinner last
night.

A visit to GiGi and GiPa's

We spent two days down at GiGi and GiPa's place. It was Spencer's first time there and his first trip to the beach. Sawyer had a great time building domino towers with GiGi and GiPa and then crashing all his cars into them, chasing Dolly, and playing at the beach. Derrick and GiPa golfed on Wednesday afternoon, and then Wednesday night we had dinner at the club - the boys were a big hit with all the members. On Thursday we went to Gasparilla Island in the morning and had a picnic lunch. Thanks for such a fun time GiGi and GiPa!

Spencer was not a huge fan of the sand or the cold water, but Sawyer loved it.

Big Helper

Sawyer wanted to feed Spencer his oatmeal. He did a great job, but it was really messy!

Sweet Big Brother

What a good big brother Sawyer is to Spencer. He loves helping us do things for Spencer and he often uses a very soft, sweet voice when addressing Spencer directly.

Spencer: crying (in the car on the way home from the store)
Sawyer: (in a very sweet voice) "Don't cry baby. Whining won't do anything. We're just going home now."
___

Sawyer and I were in his bedroom and we heard Spencer laughing out in the livingroom...
Sawyer: (while running from his bedroom to the livingroom - not in such a sweet voice to Derrick) "Hey, daddy you don't wrestle with the baby!"
Derrick lifts up Spencer and tickles him again
Sawyer: "You have to be careful with babies!"
___

Me: "Sawyer are you going to help Daddy feed Spencer his oatmeal?"
Sawyer: "Yeah, I am! I'm gonna get my step stool!" He runs to his room to get the step stool so he can be at the same level as Spencer is in his high chair.
Sawyer (in his sweet big brother voice): "You're gonna eat now. It's good, it's baby oatmeal."

Grandma and Grandpa Hanson visit

We spent a week with Grandma Mary and Grandpa Jim at Cypress Harbour

We went swimming, played on playgrounds, took a lot of walks, and played with Sawyer's new Jeep track.

In this picture Sawyer is showing Grandpa Jim how to climb the ladder at the playground - just in case he isn't sure where to step.

7 months

Spencer turned 7 months old on Tuesday. He had a busy month learning how to sit up and crawl, getting two new teeth, and eating oatmeal cereal. All of this has also meant big changes for Sawyer. No longer can Sawyer spread his toys out however he pleases, line his cars up across the living room floor, or leave his juice cup unattended. Sawyer has even gone so far as to put ALL of his favorite toys into a giant bag so that Spencer won't grab them. The top video was taken in September before Spencer could crawl. The bottom video was taken on Tuesday just after Spencer started crawling, but before Sawyer got the bag out.

Focus

Sawyer made his own pool table and pool stick out of our dining room
table and some markers. He used wiffle balls for pool balls, and
practiced focusing before each shot. Look out Grandpa!

Logic of an almost 3 year old

One month from today Sawyer will be 3 years old! Here are some recent conversations I've had with him...

Me: "Sawyer did you have fun at church class?"
Sawyer: "Yeah, I did."
Me: "What did you do in class?"
Sawyer: "Had snack, and I didn't take toys from all the kids ... just one kid, so that's pretty good."

Sawyer: "I'm not taking nap in my bed I'm taking it in your bed."
Me: "I think you should take it in your bed today."
Sawyer: "But my bed is broken."
Me: "It's broken? How did it break?"
Sawyer: "Spencer touched it, and now it's broken and I don't have a tool to fix it."

Thanks Auntie Ang

Sawyer was so excited to get a hand-colored picture if Lightning
McQueen in the mail from Auntie Ang. He knew exactly where to hang it
too. He put the picture right at his eye level among his favorite
crafts from church class.
