Playground Problem Solving

Grandma Beckie, Sawyer and I went to the playground at the Outlet Mall yesterday. There was another little boy, a little older, playing, and Sawyer enjoyed following him around. This is a series of pictures that shows Sawyer waiting so patiently in line to go down the slide. First he stood behind him for about 30 seconds, but the boy wouldn't go down. Then, he sat in line, in position ready to go as soon as it was his turn. After waiting another 30 seconds, which is like 30 minutes to Sawyer, he looked around and found another slide. It was neat to watch him during this because he never touched the other boy or tried to push him out of the way. It doesn't sound like that big of an accomplishment, but you could see Sawyer really thinking about what to do :)

Way to go Sawyer! Thanks for being so patient, and figuring it out on your own!

Ponytail

Sawyer is usually in the bathroom with me while I get ready in the
morning, so he always sees me putting my hair in some kind of
ponytail. Today he found one of my binders and tried putting it in his
hair. I explained that A: he doesn't have enough hair, and B: boys do
their hair differently than girls. None the less, here is a pic of him
holding very still to be sure his ponytail doesn't fall out.

Granola Bar Caper

Sawyer managed to sneak off with our granola bar container. You can see
the look of victory on his face as if he just pulled off a grand heist.

Just hanging around

Sawyer has a funny way of getting into precarious positions all on his own. The top picture happened while I was getting something ready in the kitchen, and asked him to go work in his kitchen. When I came to get him he was sitting on the sink. The bottom picture is from when Derrick was watching him. He thought he was climbing into his booster seat at the table, but Sawyer took it a step further.

A very important day!

Today Sawyer is 18 months old! Here is a little update of what he is doing...
____

He has 16 teeth, weighs 23.5 lbs, and is 33 inches long.

His favorite words to say are: car, truck, school bus, plane, motorcycle, ball, Grandma, Grandpa, syrup, applesauce, apple juice, waffle, puppy, flower, book, button, funny, and goofball.

Some phrases he says are: all done please, bye-bye daddy/mommy, I see you, I throw far, I'm funny, I'm goofball, again please, and I'm sorry.

His favorite things to eat are: strawberries, plums, kiwis, applesauce, waffles w/ syrup, oatmeal, cheese, bagels and cream cheese, popsicles, broccoli, noodles, cheerios, and granola bars. He pretty much likes every fruit, and a few veggies. He's still not a fan of meat, but lately he has eaten taco meat, turkey, and parts of meatballs.

He can point to his eyes, ears, nose, mouth, toes, head, and bellybutton.

He loves bubble baths, going for walks, going to playgrounds, swimming, and throwing balls. He also loves helping me do things around the house. When we empty the dishwasher he puts all of the Tupperware in his cupboard. When we vacuum he helps push it. When we dust he goes around dusting his toys with a baby wipe. He loves reading books usually we read the same one about 5 times before starting a new one.
_____

Today is also special because on June 5th, 2003 Derrick and I started dating. Who would have thought that 6 years later we would have an adorable 18 month boy!
